Tyco Integrated Systems are currently half way through a phased migration to IP CCTV and help-point systems spanning 17 separate sites and over 300 cameras at the University of Cambridge.
After the success of previous installations by Tyco over 15 years ago and painstaking research into all alternatives, University of Cambridge (UoC) have again come back to Tyco Integrated Systems (TIS) to deliver cutting edge IP technology for their security, control and service contract needs.
The UoC, with seventeen separate security zones, will be making considerable savings converting over 300 CCTV cameras and numerous help-point, alarms, VoIP intercoms and access-control systems to IP technology through TIS’s Mosaic monitoring and control system.
Mosaic offers all the advantages of a state-of-the-art IP architecture whilst enabling seamless supervision and management of both traditional analogue systems and the latest IP security technology.
Robin Satwick, TIS project manager stated, “Apart from the obvious technology advantages, the beauty of the product is its flexibility and scalability. The use of Mosaic means TIS are able to combine a wide array of security and surveillance products from various manufacturers to provide a single integrated platform which can be extended in the future using the existing multi-service network infrastructure.”
The new system also supports integrated network video recording (INVC) providing the UoC with critical evidential quality digital recording facilities within the updated CCTV control room.
Here, TIS have installed a complete digital video wall along with numerous operator workstations which is backed up by a full service contract.
Robert Lindsay, Estate Management at UoC commented, “The five archiver distributed servers, central SAN storage, multiple work stations and new video wall in the control room will undoubtedly save us needed storage space, reduce retrieval times and provide quicker incident and security reviewing.”
