Scotshield defying recession and creating jobs

Airdrie based Scotshield Fire & Security Systems is defying the recession with the creation of twenty new posts in the past two months.

The fire and security system expert is expanding and adding to its staff across five offices following recently secured contracts including a multi-million pound contract to deliver a first class fire system at the new South Glasgow Hospitals.  Scotshield has more than twenty years experience in the industry and currently employs more than 200 staff across eight locations throughout theUKandIreland.

Eleven of the positions, including three service installation engineers and four apprentice engineers have been filled at Scotshield’s head office in Airdrie, with the company also currently looking to recruit a CAD operator.

The 17 and 18 year-old apprentices are completing a four year modern apprenticeship in the fire and security industry and will be fully supported in their chosen career path, while gaining extensive experience in access control systems, CCTV installation, fire detection and alarm systems and intruder and hold-up systems.  Scotshield is investing in their future with all four young people attendingMotherwellCollegeon a day release basis to study for a Security Systems Technicians Level 3 SVQ accredited course.

Six further positions have been filled across the company’sBelfastand Dundee offices, with a new business development manager recruited inNewcastleand a service engineer position currently available inWarrington.
