The NVR Touch, from digital video security system manufacturer, LILIN, has reached the finals of the Security Excellence Awards in the category “Security Innovation of the Year”.

The Security Excellence Awards recognise and honour the achievements of manufacturing, security management, installation and consultancy companies in the UK’s security sector. LILIN’s NVR Touch is a worthy finalist, combining ground-breaking performance with an innovative, multi-touch screen interface.

The NVR Touch is a standalone Network Video Recorder, specifically designed for the demands of security and surveillance applications. It displays and records up to 16 HD (1080P) IP video channels at 25 FPS simultaneously – a performance which puts it at the forefront of the security industry. Its truly unique touch-screen operating system re-defines set-up, commissioning and operational simplicity for installers and end-users.

Jason Hill, Group Vice President of LILIN explains, “Considerable investment in research and development has gone into the NVR Touch, which is paying off. We use our own processor for decoding real time HD video streams for the NVR Touch. This has enabled us to produce a robust standalone NVR solution, which is straightforward to set up and operate.”

The design has a familiar DVR-style front panel with IR remote control and PTZ keyboard options. The touch screen interface takes advantage of highly intuitive, smartphone-style features like ‘pinch and zoom’, multi-touch and scrolling, icon-based menus. This interface increases operator speed and minimizes the time taken to learn the system, benefitting both installers and end users. Currently there is nothing else on the market like it. A world first from LILIN.

The NVR Touch uses an automated installation wizard (WS Discovery) which locates all the cameras on the network and imports a preview picture of each channel to help with identification. Users can easily export audio and video recordings to a USB, the NVR’s integrated DVD or to a protected part of a hard drive, using the drag and drop timeline. Remote viewing from smartphones is fully enabled, with iPhone, Android, Blackberry and iPad compatibility.

LILIN’s NVR Touch is a deserved finalist. The winner of each category will be announced in October 2012.
