The Grosvenor House Dubai hotel has installed a state-of-the-art security system designed to excel against challenges posed by a difficult and changing lighting landscape.
Located in the luxurious Dubai Marina, the Grosvenor House hotel consists of two 45-storey towers containing 749 rooms, suites and apartments, in addition to various bars, restaurants and spas.
HCL Infosystems MEA, the Dubai-based integrator for this project, opted for Hikvision’s WDR Dome Camera to cover the hotel’s main entrance, southern exit and the hotel’s auxiliary exits.
The dome has to excel against a range of lighting challenges, with conditions stretching from direct sunlight during the day to total darkness in the evening.
A Hikvision High-Definition WDR Box Camera has also been located inside the hotel’s entrance to identify customers against the complex lighting conditions.
In addition, a total of 440 units of Hikvision’s High-Definition Low Illumination ICR Dome Cameras have been placed throughout the corridors of the hotel’s two towers as part of the security system.
The installation also includes Hikvision’s Standalone DVR to meet the hotel’s requirements for video storage and provide scope for future developments, with the DVR able to utilise both analogue and digital cameras.
Mohamed Kasim, manager of security solutions at HCL Infosystems MEA, confirmed the shifting lighting conditions was the most challenging aspect the security installation faced.
He said: “Our goal was to build a total solution for this luxury hotel, but due to challenges such as difficult lighting conditions, it was paramount that our equipment be the best.
“Since the Grosvenor House encompasses a wide variety of amenities, from bars to spas, the ambience (and by extension, the lighting conditions) varies greatly throughout the hotel. As such, we needed a flexible indoor dome that provides great quality in a variety of differing locations”
