Honeywell boosts London Underground surveillance capability

DVM_control_room_EHoneywell has been awarded the contract to design a multi-site centrally-controlled integrated surveillance solution for London Underground.

London Underground is striving to improve intruder detection and security and, following a tender process, selected Honeywell Building Solutions (HBS) to install a new electronic security system at a number of sites in the capital.

The project, due for completion later in 2013, includes the provision for cameras, video analytics and perimeter intruder detection systems

All of the solutions will be integrated via Honeywell’s Enterprise Buildings Integrator (EBI) and its advanced digital CCTV solution, Digital Video Manager (DVM).

Lee Merryweather, project manager for HBS, said: “The combined Honeywell EBI and DVM solution will facilitate site-wide monitoring of the CCTV and alarm system, giving London Underground greater awareness of threats.

“It will also enable uniform management of incidents and deliver high quality evidential proof that can be handed over to the British Transport Police.”

After completion of the project, further sites and services, including access control, are scheduled to be integrated into the network.
