Global MSC are delighted to announce the next Security Seminar and Exhibition which is being held with South Gloucestershire and Bristol City Councils. The Conference is aimed at public space CCTV and security managers on the subject of, “The Freedoms Bill – How Will it Affect CCTV and Its Regulation”

When the Coalition Government announced it would “further regulate CCTV”, there was anticipation and some nerves across the industry. Now, many months on, there has still been no clear indication about what the Government has in mind. The intention was that the proposals would be included in the Freedoms Bill, which was originally intended to be introduced into Parliament in November. Add to this the proposals around the Security Industry Authority – and the impact that the Comprehensive Spending Review will have on local authorities and policing – and  there are now real concerns about what, if any, regulation is likely to be imposed on the CCTV industry. If the Government does maintain the plan to regulate CCTV and to use the Freedoms Bill, this conference will be the first opportunity to discuss the impact.

This event (free to end users only) is being staged at the Bristol Marriott Royal Hotel in Bristol between 09.00 and 16.30 on Tuesday 8th March 2011 with a complimentary buffet lunch. (Manufacturers and security service providers are only able to attend this event as part of one of the Exhibition Packages available). For members of The Security Institute participating in the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programme, a maximum of 8 CPD points are available for the seminar on a self-directed basis. Speakers confirmed so far include:

Sam Lincoln – Chief Surveillance Inspector
Bill Butler – Security Industry Authority
Chris Brogan – The Security Institute
Dr Peter Fussey – University of Essex
Kevin Taylor – London Borough of Bexley
Paul Mackie – Camerwatch
Giles Miskin – Colourworks

Lee Casswell – Pivot 3
Mick Harrison – Kent Police
Indy Kler – IqinVision
Steve McCullen – Stryker Communications

After lunch there will be a ‘Question Time’ style debate where the audience will be able to pose questions to the panel who will include representatives from the Police, The Security Institute and other industry experts. Global MSC would like to encourage delegates and manufacturers to participate in what is set to be a lively and beneficial debate on the implications of the Freedoms Bill and the future regulation of CCTV.
