Subject: Forensic Images – Bringing the Rioters to Justice

Back by popular demand, Metropolitan Police Service DCI Mick Neville, who co-ordinates the Met’s, Visual Images Identifications Detection Office (VIIDO) Unit, will be talking about the work he and his unit have been undertaking to identify those who participated in last Augusts’ riots.

Plain speaking as ever and never one to avoid controversy, he will share with delegates the benefits and the difficulties experienced by his officers when searching and collating images from CCTV systems to investigate the disturbances. It is sure to be a lively and candid insight into the use of CCTV in London.

Mick will also be participating in the Question Time debate after lunch.

On the afternoon of 6th March, after lunch there will be a ‘Question Time’ style debate where the audience will be able to pose questions to the panel of industry experts on the subject of the recent UK riots, how CCTV played a part and the impact (if any) of the budget cuts. We would like to encourage delegates and manufacturers to participate in what is set to be a lively and beneficial debate.

The panel will comprise of the following:

  • DCC Graeme Gerrard – Cheshire Constabulary
  • Alex Deane – Big Brother Watch
  • DCI Mick Neville – Met Police
  • Gordon McLanaghan – Bristol City Council
  • Dr Peter Fussey – University of Essex
