Five new Fujinon 3 and 5 megapixel resolution varifocal lenses employing P-iris (Precise iris) for superior picture quality are soon available from UK/Ireland distributor Pyser-SGI.
Offering the significant optical advantages of P-iris technology – combined with high resolution and IR correction – these new Fujinon HD lenses are ideal for today ’s 24/7 security surveillance requirements, as well as for machine vision applications.
Paul Goodwin, Pyser-SGI ’s divisional head broadcast and CCTV products, said: “P-iris is a welcome advance in lens design that greatly improves the standard and usefulness of picture quality. P-iris lenses maximise performance from the latest megapixel cameras, with the effects immediately noticeable on camera – even to the casual observer. It is an important contribution to the development of ever more sophisticated professional surveillance systems aimed at combating the latest terrorist threats and for other law enforcement and critical security issues. ”
Fujinon ’s P-iris system, as well as offering automatic adjustment of the lens iris in response to light level changes, provides extremely accurate software control of the aperture to enhance all aspects of image quality – particularly evident with megapixel-type cameras. A stepper motor in the lens precisely determines the optimum iris position in all lighting conditions to reduce unwanted effects such as blurring due to diffraction (small iris opening) and spherical aberration (large iris opening) – resulting in a sharper centre-to-edge image and more stable depth of field.
The five new Fujinon lenses incorporating P-iris are the YV2.8×2.8SR4A-JA2L and YV3.3x15SR4A-JA2L for 1/2.7 inch sensor size cameras with 3 megapixel resolution; and the 3 and 5 megapixel DV3.8x4SR4A-JA1L , DV4x12.5SR4A-JA1L for 1/1.8 inch sensor size cameras and DV10x8SR4A-JA1L for ½ inch sensor size cameras.
The YV2.8×2.8 lens has a focal length from 2.8 to 8 mm with a maximum relative aperture of F1.3; the YV3.3×15 has a focal length from 15 to 50 mm with a maximum relative aperture of F1.5 for good viewing in poor lighting conditions; the DV3.8×4 has a focal length from 4 to 15 mm also with a maximum relative aperture of F1.5; the DV4x12.5 has a focal length from 12.5 to 50 mm with a maximum relative aperture of F1.6; and the DV10x8 has a focal length from 8 to 80 mm with a maximum relative aperture also of F1.6.
All the new Fujinon P-iris, varifocal lenses are RoHS compliant.
