Connecticut hospital in access and video security update

yale-new-haven-hospital-logoYale-New Haven Hospital, one of the largest medical facilities in the United States, has added to its level of security through the installation of a new integrated solution.

The non-profit 1,500-bed medical centre in Connecticut is utilising an integrated security solution from Tyco Security Products’ Software House and American Dynamics brand.

Using the new solution the teaching hospital and other sites under the banner of its parent organisation, Yale New Haven Health System, benefit from centralised management of its security system, covering both access and video security.

In total, access control credentials for more than 12,000 workers will be updated, impacting on more than 1,000 doors and readers across the 12 sites on the network.

As part of the security overhaul, the hospital is also migrating some of its digital recorders to 22 VideoEdge network video services and managing its IP and analogue systems through one single interface.

Marvin White, manager of physical security and protective services at Yale-New Haven Hospital, said: “This new system not only provides critical information to our department so we can make timely, strategic decisions, but it also offers system intelligence to provide data to the rest of our organisation.”
