Securing construction sites is one of the main challenges for most house builders, Swan New Homes has chosen Clarke Construction Security (CCSec) to provide comprehensive technology based site security throughout the building of its new Oldchurch Park development in Romford, Essex.

Oldchuch Park in Romford, Essex consists of 376 apartments and houses with a mixed tenure of private, rented and shared ownership.  It is anticipated to be a three year project with the first construction phase already underway.

The construction site entrance has been secured by a turnstile that incorporates a biometric finger reader, with CCSec’s alarms and CCTV monitoring equipment covering all other areas of the site.  As the first phase consists of timber frame flats, CCSec’s fire evacuation system is a particularly important component during the construction stage whilst the structure is exposed; in ensuring the site is kept secure and safe. Should any of the alarms be activated, CCSec’s 24-hour monitoring station will be alerted and the appropriate action can be taken.

Swan New Homes will also be installing CCSec’s time lapse video camera – this will allow them to view video footage recorded over a long period of time in a matter of seconds giving the impression of a continuous sequence of events and an interesting view of how building work has progressed from start to the end result.

“Swan New Homes is an ethical developer and we put great care into considering the community in which we are working and ensuring that our developments blend in seamlessly,” explained Paul Hardy, Assistant Construction Director of Swan New Homes.  “It’s therefore fundamental that our sites are kept secure and safe.  But it’s also not just about securing our sites; we have a duty of care to both our staff and local residents, particularly younger people that often regard a large building site as a potential playground.”

Paul Hardy continued, “When we initially looked at security for the Oldchurch Park development, we wanted to work with a company that understood our needs, could provide an all encompassing technology based security solution for the site, and one that would handle things in an efficient and professional manner.  CCSec met each aspect of our criteria and we’re very happy with the advice they have already given us and the solution they have provided.”

Carl Clarke, Managing Director of CCSec added, “we’re of course delighted to be working with Swan New Homes, and it’s great that they recognized our dedication to customer service and our overall aim in providing security and safety solutions tailored to our customers’ needs.”
