Canon powers Middle East’s security sector with launch of latest IP cameras

Canon VB S30D (Custom)Canon Middle East has further consolidated its security camera business in the Middle East region with the launch of its ‘S’ series innovative IP security cameras. The new models were unveiled to the region’s security and surveillance channel including resellers and system integrators for the first time at Intersec 2014, the largest security solutions exhibition in the Middle East.

The new ultra-compact ‘S’ series has been designed for indoor environments which require sensitive monitoring of specific areas or items, such as the retail, education, commercial and hospitality sectors.

Speaking about the launch of this unique range at Intersec, held in Dubai in January, Sam Oommen Product Manager – IP Camera and Projector, Canon Middle East, said, “This is the second time we have exhibited at Intersec in Dubai. In 2013 we showcased a broad range of our products and services, but this year we focused on highlighting the unique features of our full HD IP cameras. We launched four new cameras from our stand at the event, taking the opportunity to highlight and demonstrate the analytic features that are built into the cameras themselves.

“Analytic features, such as low light and moving object analysis, are customarily software features.” Oommen adds, “We are the first company to build a small, compact camera with these features incorporated into the hardware itself. It was our goal at the exhibition to give visitors to our stand first hand experience of our products, and we had a fantastic response to the simulation rooms we had set up for demonstrations. Visitors got to experience our camera’s analytic features such as analysis in extreme low light conditions and facial recognition in extreme light conditions. Finally, we were able to highlight the compatibility of our camera with software solutions other than Canon’s own. All of our cameras fully integrate with other software solutions, including Milestone and Genetec solutions.”

Elaborating on Canon’s new cameras, Hendrik Verbrugghe, Marketing Director, Canon Middle East said, “There has been great market demand for innovative and cost-effective security solutions for corporate environments in the region. Our partners, system integrators and resellers attended the show to witness the latest Canon security solutions and have clearly identified the significant business opportunities that lie ahead with the new range.

Canon VB S900F (Custom)“The new range comes equipped with inbuilt analytics providing end-users with solutions that are clearly value-for-money. “Based on feedback from security partners and system integrators to help customers tighten security and minimise risk, we now offer the same comprehensive set of in-built analytics on the new compact series as already available on our high end security cameras,” added Verbrugghe.

The full HD IP cameras including its inbuilt analytics were showcased with a live demonstration giving attendees a first look and feel to the products. Features that impressed the IT channel include; the True Wide Angle coverage which minimizes cameras’ quantity requirements, low light capability which enhances video quality in difficult lighting conditions and the Smart Shade Control feature which makes the video footage more effective when excessive light falls from behind the object.

“The future looks bright and secure for our IP camera range in the region. The latest range of security cameras represents a significant milestone for Canon and a compelling proposition for our partners and their customers. Canon’s participation at Intersec provided us a great opportunity to show the market what makes Canon’s security surveillance portfolio stand out from the competition,” concluded Verbrugghe.
