Adams Rite door hardware has been used to create accessibility and provide security at the prestigious Winchester School of Art.
The University of Southampton art school – Winchester School of Art, boasts several notable alumni including electronic music pioneer, Brian Eno and Turner Prize nominee, Darren Almond. For the last 140 years the school has been one of the leading art and design institutions in the UK, offering a platform for students to express themselves creatively and individually.
As part of an ongoing £250,000 re-generation of the site, Adams Rite Rigel offset cranked pull handles and 4596 paddle handles that operate 4750 dead latches have been fitted to fire escape routes.
The hardware installation for the regeneration project was carried out by Architectural Glazing Solutions of Portsmouth, who, as part of an ongoing contract, also fitted Adams Rite concealed closers.
Richard Lawes, Regional Sales Manager for Adams Rite, added:
“The hardware supplied, enabled the doorset to meet its requirements under the relevant Building Regulations, an area that is a high priority for quality doorset suppliers such as AGS.
“For example the 4596 Paddle Handle with 4750 Deadlatch is CE marked under EN179 and meets the requirements of Approved Document B for escape relating to fire safety.
“More customers are working in partnership with Adams Rite to ensure hardware for a full door solution is provided to their clients, ensuring relevant legislative requirements are met, which is paramount in today’s market.”
